A Missionary Story
Last week, God gave me the great joy of seeing and hanging out with a dear friend from China. Many of you got to meet Jackie, spend a brief moment with him, and hear his testimony. Jackie’s testimony was of how he was approached by a brave, young journeyman from the IMB and introduced himself as a “Christian.” Jackie’s initial thought was of the Christians he knew from his hometown. He thought they were poor, old, broken, and outcasts. His initial thought in associating with Christianity was, “NO! I do not want any part of this!”
But as the journeyman shared his testimony with Jackie, something moved and stirred in his heart. He thought, “This guy is not old; he is not broken, but he is bold and brave about his God.”
As days went by with much debate and discussion, the journeyman asked Jackie if he died did he know where he would spend eternity. The journeyman said, “Sure, you are young, but you could die today in a car accident; you could die suddenly with an illness because no man is promised tomorrow.”
With that, Jackie knew that he wanted to pray and receive this Christ who loved him so much that he sent a young man from America to tell him of his need of a Savior.
This Easter season, I want to personally thank you, BFBC, for your prayer covering and partnership in the gospel. As we give to missions, whether it be Lottie Moon or Annie Armstrong, know that you are a vital part of the gospel shared and souls that are led to Christ in the US and across the globe. Our God is so great and so sovereign that He sent Jackie as a witness that our labor together is never in vain.
Instruction from our resurrected Lord: Matthew 28: 18-20, Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore, go and make disciples of all Nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.
