10,000 Gospel Conversations FAQ

Vision 2030: Share the Gospel Boldly
As part of our Vision 2030, Berea First Baptist Church is committing to have 10,000 Gospel conversations over the next four years. That works out to about 50 conversations every week, which is a big goal. Shared across our whole church family, it’s one we can reach together. Pastor Chad will be preaching on evangelism from Romans 1 and Romans 10 on October 18 and 25, and we pray this season stirs all of us to open our mouths and share the good news of Jesus with the people God has placed around us.

For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek.
Romans 1:16 (NKJV)
To help us celebrate what God is doing and keep track of our progress as a church, we’ve created a simple online form. It takes less than a minute to fill out, and only the first question is required.

How the Form Works
Step 1: Choose the option that best reflects your conversation
This is the only required question. Pick the option that describes how far your conversation went:
Every one of these four options counts toward our goal of 10,000! We want to encourage every member of our church to step out and make the effort. Every step of faithfulness is worth celebrating.
Step 2: Submit, or tell us more
After the first question, you can submit the form right away or choose to tell us more. If you’d like to share more, the form will ask:
- When the conversation happened (today, yesterday, or another date)
- What your conversation was like: how it started, what you talked about, and how they responded
- How confident you felt while sharing, on a scale from 1 (really nervous) to 5 (really confident)
- Your name and phone number, if you’re willing to share your testimony with the church or would like help with follow-up
There are no right or wrong answers. We simply want to partner with you as you share your faith and learn how we can pray for you and for the person you talked with.

Frequently Asked Questions
Understanding the Four Options
What is the difference between a spiritual conversation and sharing the Gospel?
A spiritual conversation moves beyond everyday interests and personal experiences to matters of faith. It might include questions like, “Do you go to church?” or “What do you believe about God?” Sharing the Gospel goes further by explaining who Jesus is, how His death and resurrection provide salvation from sin, and how we respond through repentance and faith.
What essential truths do I need to communicate for it to count as sharing the Gospel?
You don’t have to use a particular script, but clearly explain our need, what Jesus has done, and how to respond. Using the 3 Circles framework, explain that God created us for a relationship with Him, but our sin separates us from Him and leads to brokenness. Jesus lived without sin, died for our sins, and rose again. Through repentance and faith in Jesus, we receive forgiveness and new life and begin pursuing God’s design.
Do all four categories count toward the church’s Gospel conversation goal?
Yes! Every one of the four options counts toward our goal of 10,000 Gospel conversations. Our goal is to encourage everyone to step out and make the effort of having a Gospel conversation, and we want to celebrate every step you take. Our prayer is that more and more of those conversations will move all the way to sharing the hope of the Gospel.
If I intended to share the Gospel but never got to discuss spiritual things, should I select the first option?
Yes! If you started a conversation with the goal of sharing the Gospel but didn’t reach spiritual topics, select the first option. We are proud of you for taking that step!
If several options describe my conversation, should I select the one that reflects how far the conversation progressed?
Yes! Select the option that best reflects how far the conversation progressed.
If someone is interested or wants to talk more but hasn’t trusted Jesus, should I choose the third option?
Yes, if you shared the Gospel with them. Interest and openness are worth celebrating, even when someone hasn’t yet made a profession of faith. Keep praying and looking for opportunities to follow up!
What if someone says they already believe in Jesus, but I’m unsure whether they understand the Gospel?
If you shared the Gospel and they did not make a new profession of faith, choose the third option. This reports what happened in the conversation; it is not a judgment about their salvation. Continue listening, asking thoughtful questions, and helping them understand the Gospel.
What do you mean by someone “giving their life to Jesus”? What if I’m unsure whether that happened?
We mean that the person expressed repentance from sin and faith in Jesus as Lord and Savior. They may express that faith through a prayer, but saying a prayer alone is not what saves someone. If you shared the Gospel but are unsure whether they made a profession of faith, choose option 3 and share more in the optional details.
What Counts
Does inviting someone to church count? If so, which option should I choose?
A church invitation by itself does not count and does not need to be reported. We’re glad you invited someone! Take the next bold step by looking for an opportunity to share the Gospel with them, even before they visit.
Does praying with someone or sharing my testimony count as sharing the Gospel?
Both can be meaningful parts of sharing the Gospel, but neither automatically communicates the Gospel. Be sure to explain that Jesus died for our sins and rose again, and that we receive salvation through repentance and faith in Him.
Do conversations over text, social media, or the phone count?
Yes! Meaningful Gospel conversations can happen through any of these methods. We encourage in-person conversations when possible but use the opportunities available to you.
Do conversations with my children, family members, or people who already attend church count?
They can! Personal evangelism includes helping family members, children, and church attendees believe in and respond to the Gospel. Church attendance does not necessarily mean someone has trusted in Jesus. Our focus is sharing the Gospel with those who need to respond to it.
Do sermons, Sunday School lessons, or group teaching count, or is this focused on personal conversations?
Our focus is personal evangelism, so sermons, Sunday School lessons, and other group teaching do not count toward this goal. However, a personal Gospel conversation that happens before or after a teaching session can count.
Can I report an older conversation, and when does the tracking period begin?
Tracking begins October 1, 2026. You may report a conversation later, but please include only conversations that took place on or after that date.
Submitting the Form
Can I submit only the first question, and do I need an account?
Yes! Only the first question is required, and you do not need an account to submit your response. However, we would love for you to answer the optional questions so we can hear more about your experience.
Should I submit another response each time I talk with the same person?
Yes! Submit a new response for each separate conversation that fits one of the four categories. You may have two or ten conversations with the same person as you continue sharing and following up. We love that kind of intentional investment!
If I share with several people together, should I submit one response or one for each person?
Submit one response for the group conversation. In the optional details, let us know how many people participated and how they responded, especially if their responses were different.
If another church member and I share together, should we both report the conversation?
Submit one response on behalf of your team, and mention that another church member participated with you. We are stronger together!
Should my confidence rating reflect how I felt while speaking or how I feel afterward, and can I be nervous even if the conversation went well?
Rate how you felt during the conversation, with 1 meaning very nervous and 5 meaning very confident. You can be nervous and still have a meaningful conversation! Boldness means being faithful even when you’re nervous. Also, our confidence does not determine someone’s response to the Gospel.
What should I do if I accidentally submit the same conversation twice?
Email Blake at blake@bereafbc.org, and he will help correct it. Include approximately when you submitted the form and enough information to identify the duplicate response.
Privacy and Follow-Up
Are my responses anonymous, who can read them, and should I avoid including the other person’s name?
Your responses are anonymous unless you choose to identify yourself. Only BFBC staff will have access to your responses. You may include the other person’s name when helpful for follow-up, but please honor their privacy and avoid unnecessary personal details. If you’re unsure whether to include something, leave it out or speak directly with a staff member.
If someone believes on Jesus for salvation or needs follow-up, will submitting this form notify someone who can help?
Yes! Your submission lets our staff know. If you would like help with follow-up, please include your name and phone number in the last question of the form so we can connect with you. You are also welcome to email, call, or stop by the church offices. We would love to help!
Still have a question we didn’t answer? Email Blake at blake@bereafbc.org.
Thank you for being a church that shares the Gospel boldly. Every conversation matters, and we can’t wait to hear how God is using you!
