Why do we do missions?

Why do we do missions? Because Jesus commissioned us? Yes! But even deeper, we find our reasons in Psalm 67. God is worthy of our worship. The nations need to worship God. Our lives ought to be lived out in a way that we enjoy God and His Glory. We should encourage the nations to do the same.
We see that worship is the fuel for missions. When we begin to think about all that God is to us and what He has done for us, our response is to worship Him. We cannot keep that to ourselves. It becomes an outflow of who He is in our lives.
I am reminded of Martha and Mary who desired to work for Jesus as their response to Him. Mary was enamored with Jesus and Martha was busy serving Jesus. Martha began to get upset that Mary wasn’t serving. Jesus told Martha, I am more important than you serving Me. What a call for us to enjoy Him. Let the outflow of us enjoying Him become the fuel for our missions to Berea, Greenville, South Carolina, this great country, and to the ends of the earth.
