Dock Volunteers,
I am so excited about everything happening in our children’s ministry! This school year, we have seen children come to saving faith in Jesus, and we’ve watched as they learn how to worship, praise, and pray to God.
While these things are happening and while God is working in the lives of our children, our children’s ministry is also growing! We are seeing new children attend almost every week, either on Wednesday nights or Sunday mornings!
As we grow and add children, expectations for behavior at church become even more important! The “rules” I’ve discussed with the children this year are:
- Honor God with everything we think, say, and do.
- Only use words that are positive, encouraging, and helpful.
- Always tell the truth.
- Love your neighbor – be a good friend.
- Be safe.
- Take care of our property.
Some of your recent feedback has been that children are having a difficult time with some of these things during Sunday morning Dock. We’ve had some of our things destroyed or broken, and some children are having a difficult time showing respect to our volunteers.
With this in mind, I’ve asked parents to partner with us in helping make it better by reminding the children of expected behaviors while at church. I want to have a fun, welcoming environment for the children while also teaching them to show respect to our church building, other children, and adults leading them.
I want them to know it is okay to make mistakes – we often talk about how there is only one perfect One – but also to understand the desire to be better when we follow Jesus and build a closer relationship with Him.
I want all our children’s ministry experiences to be positive ones for the children and for YOU, our volunteers! Children’s ministry is one of the most important callings within the church, and I am so thankful for all of you who have a heart for helping mold our youngest hearts toward saving faith and a greater relationship with Christ!
Stay tuned for some exciting changes coming soon and a “Tips and Tricks” for helping manage behaviors – I can’t wait to share all the good things with you all!
Big things are happening in our children’s ministry. Spread the word! And prayerfully consider who God may lay on your heart to encourage to join our children’s ministry volunteer team!
Thank you and love you all!
Dawn
