The Berea First Baptist Child Development Center exists to help each child grow physically, intellectually, emotionally, socially and spiritually.  We believe that children are a gift from God, and that He has entrusted you, as parents, and us, as caregivers, to do our very best to help them grow into the adults God would have them to be.

Co-Directors of CDC Director:  Jennifer Schumpert cdcdirector@bereafbc.org 864-294-9001    Jennifer received her undergraduate degree in Early Childhood Education and Elementary Education from Lander University in 1997 and a Masters of Education from Southern Wesleyan University in 2003.  She taught pre Kindergarten at James M. Brown Elementary 1997-2006.    Jennifer Schumpert is a Master Trainer for the South Carolina Center for Child Care Career Development. She has written numerous proposals for trainings and has facilitated workshops for child development centers in Oconee County, Pickens County and Greenville County. She has also contracted with the South Carolina Center for Child Care Career Development to write two trainings on Mathematics and the South Carolina Early Learning Standards.    She is married to John Schumpert and they have one child, Jack age 5. Director:  Jennifer Kauffman cdcdirector@bereafbc.org 864-294-9001    Jennifer received her undergraduate degree from the University of South Carolina in Early Childhood Education in 1995 and a Masters in  Library and Information Services in 1997.  She has been the media specialist for Barnwell Elementary School 1997-2005 and for Monaview Elementary School 2005-2001.  She received her National Board Certification in Literacy 2006.    She is married to Don Kauffman and they have 3 children, Grace 9, and twins Will and James age 4.

Child Development Center - Tuition                                            CDC Tuition: We offer part-time and full-time care.      Part-Time:     2 Days per week                            $90 per week - all ages      Full-Time:      3-5 days per week                           $136.00 per week - infants and toddlers                           $123.00 per week - two year olds *Registration Fee: $55.00 per child or $85 per family annually. *Summer Program Registration Fee: $25.00 annually.      If a child withdraws for the Summer, a fee of $50.00 per week is required to hold the spot for the Fall. **BFBC members receive a discount of $10.00 off per month. **Siblings receive a weekly discount of 10%off the 2nd, 3rd child, etc. Kindergarten Tuition: Our kindergarten program is from 8:45-12:00 five days per week.  Children may arrive anytime between 7:00 and 8:45 a.m. for an early stay fee and may stay until anytime between 12:00 and 5:45pm for a late stay fee. Kindergarten only:     $264.00 per month (August-May) Early Stay:                $5.00 per day Late Stay:                 $10.50 per day *Registration Fee: $125.00 annually *Summer Program Registration Fee:  $25.00 annually **BFBC members receive a discount of $10.00 per month. **Siblings receive a 10% discount.

Waiting List Policies and Procedures                                           Priority is given to Berea First Baptist Church members and to siblings of currently enrolled children. Individuals who wish to place their child’s name on the waiting list must do so in person through the CDC office by: (1) Touring the center, (2) Completing a waiting list form, and (3) Paying a one-time, non-refundable processing fee of $25.00 for one child and $40.00 for two or more children.

Curriculum                                                                                      WEE LEARN is the adopted curriculum of the CDC and Kindergarten programs.  This curriculum includes instruction in the following areas:               Language                         Science               Music                               Movement               Health                              Safety               Art/Creativity                    Pre Math Skills The WEE LEARN curriculum is flexible and child-centered.  The teachers plan weekly and monthly themes for exploration and investigation by the children in their classroom.

Holiday Closings                                                                            New Year’s Day Good Friday Memorial Day Independence Day Labor Day Thanksgiving (Thurs. and Fri.) Christmas Eve Christmas Day *The center will also close 1-2 weeks annually for cleaning and repairs.  When the center is closed, other than holidays, tuition will be waived.
